A Family of Companies

Sivuniq is 100 percent minority-owned by Akmaaq, LLC, a management subsidiary within the NANA family of companies. Akmaaq’s parent company, NANA Development Corporation, was formed in 1972 following the enactment of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. That Act, the largest land claims settlement in United States history, transferred land titles to Alaska’s indigenous people through the formation of 13 Regional Alaska Native Corporations.

NANA’s sole purpose is to provide for the economic and cultural well being of our owners – the Inupiat Eskimo people who originated in northwest Alaska. Embodying the values of the traditional Inupiat hunter, NANA businesses around the globe contribute to the lives of our 11,400 shareholders by bringing revenues and creating opportunities that enable our people to live productively in traditional and modern worlds.

Solid Future

Sivuniq brings the technical strength and financial backing of our parent organizations to the work we do. As a NANA subsidiary, we are a part of an extended family of companies who in total employ more than 4000 technical and service professionals in more than 30 industries. That is strength to build on.
